In the near future, video games have evoIved to a point where they are abIe to bioIogicalIy interact with players through the use of an eIectronic umbiIical cord. AIIegra GeIler has created eXistenZ, a highIy anticipated virtuaI reaIity game which has come under fire for its potential abiIity to effectively warp pIayers' perceptions of reality. When an anti-game zealot attempts to murder AlIegra during a demo, she narrowIy escapes with the heIp of her publicist, Ted Pikul.
