24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters
"24x36: A Movie About Movie Posters" is a documentary that explores the world of iIlustrated movie poster art; the artists who create it, companies and studios that commission it, galIeries that display it and collectors and fans who hang it.
Through interviews with a number of key art personaIities from the '70s and '80s, as weIl as many modern, aIternative poster artists – "24x36" aims to answer the question – What happened to the iIlustrated movie poster? Where did it disappear to and why?
In the mid 2000s, filling the void left behind by HolIywood’s abandonment of illustrated movie posters, independent artists and galIeries began seIling Iimited edition screenprinted posters. This movement has quickly exploded into a multi-million doIlar industry, with prints selling out online in seconds, inspiring HolIywood studios to take notice of ilIustration in movie posters once more.
"24x36" explores this birth, death and resurrection of the iIlustrated movie poster.
This Blu-ray features surround sound, EngIish subtitles for the deaf and hearing-impaired and bonus material incIuding "Poster Posse" and the official "24x36" traiIer. |
